About Mayo Island
Mayo Island is conveniently located along the James River in downtown Richmond, Virginia. Named for Colonel John Mayo, who owned the island in the late 1700s, Mayo Island is an ideal event venue. The historic island’s central location, approximately 500 parking spaces, and almost 3 acres of open field make it well suited for concerts, festivals, and other family-oriented entertainment. In addition, views of the James River and the city’s skyline provide a true Richmond experience.
The island, which has hosted events dating back to the 19th century, has been home to minor league baseball teams, college football games, and Earth Day celebrations. According to Virginia Living Magazine, baseball greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig are reported to have played on the island.
More than a decade since the Mayo Island’s last event, Blue Marble Productions began efforts in July 2013 to revive the island so that it can once again be a venue for high-level entertainment.
About Blue Marble Productions, LLC.
Blue Marble Productions, LLC is owned and operated by music industry veteran, Gratton Stephens.
